The great ignition
Between November 19, 2024 and April 26, 2026, Pluto, Neptune and Uranus each left an earth or water sign for an air or fire sign. In July 2026 the three formed two sextiles and a trine. This is the sequence, the geometry and the history, computed.

Day and night
From night signs to day signs
Astrology divides the zodiac into two halves that alternate sign by sign. Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius, the fire and air signs, are the day signs. The tradition calls them diurnal and reads them as outgoing, initiating and quick. Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces, the earth and water signs, are the night signs: nocturnal, receptive, conserving. The words are old; the geometry is simple. Every other sign is a day sign.
From March 6, 2019 to March 23, 2023, Pluto, Neptune and Uranus all stood in night signs: Pluto in Capricorn, Neptune in Pisces, Uranus in Taurus. Since April 26, 2026, all three have stood in day signs: Pluto in Aquarius, Neptune in Aries, Uranus in Gemini. They stay there until August 3, 2032, when Uranus moves on into Cancer.
The swing is not rare in itself. The three last stood together in day signs in 1998–2003 (Pluto in Sagittarius, Neptune and Uranus in Aquarius), and the long record in Plate 4 shows such stretches every few decades. What gives this one its texture is how completely the sky turned over: from all night to all day in a little over three years.
Read through the tradition, the night-sign years favor what holds: savings, supply, home, the body, the familiar. The day-sign years favor what moves: ideas, networks, initiative, speech. The sky doesn’t make anyone do anything. It describes the conditions a generation works in, and it suggests why the same few years can feel first like a long winter and then, quite suddenly, like wind.

The sequence
Seven steps in 522 days
An outer planet rarely crosses into a new sign once. It crosses, turns retrograde and slips back, then crosses again, so an ingress is a season rather than a date. Between Pluto’s last step into Aquarius and Uranus’s last step into Gemini there were seven sign changes.
From the first to the last is 522 days: November 19, 2024 – April 26, 2026, counted in UTC. Uranus made its final crossing at 00:50 UTC on April 26, 2026, which was still April 25, 2026 in the Americas.
Saturn joined the procession. It entered Aries for good on February 14, 2026 and met Neptune there on February 20, 2026, at 0°45′ Aries. The tradition reads Saturn as the planet of form and limits and Neptune as the planet of dreams and dissolving edges, so their meeting at the first degree of the zodiac reads as an ideal being asked to take shape. It was the first Saturn–Neptune conjunction in Aries since March 28, 1703.

Precedent
Three planets, three earlier visits
Each of the three has been in its new sign before, and the earlier visits are well documented. They are not templates; a sign doesn’t repeat history. They show what each planet in each sign has coincided with, which is what mundane astrology studies.
Pluto in Aquarius. Pluto was last here from April 4, 1777 to December 26, 1798, settling in on December 1, 1778. Those years produced the United States Constitution, signed in 1787, and the French Revolution, which began in 1789: two arguments about who “the people” are and what power they hold. Pluto is the planet of power and what it costs; Aquarius is the sign of the group, the network and the rule that applies to everyone. Pluto stays in Aquarius until January 19, 2044.
Neptune in Aries. Neptune was last here from April 13, 1861 to April 7, 1875. It first crossed the day after the bombardment of Fort Sumter began, and its years saw the Red Cross founded in 1863 and the German Empire proclaimed in 1871. Neptune is the planet of ideals and of what dissolves; Aries is the sign of the self that acts. The tradition reads Neptune in Aries as idealism that moves: causes, nations, crusades. Neptune stays in Aries until March 23, 2039.
Uranus in Gemini. Uranus was last here from August 7, 1941 to June 10, 1949. Those years produced the transistor, first demonstrated at Bell Labs in December 1947, and Shannon’s 1948 paper that founded information theory. Uranus is the planet of the sudden and the new; Gemini is the sign of messages, links and the mind that moves between them. Uranus stays in Gemini until May 22, 2033.
The geometry
Two sextiles and a trine
Aspects are what the circle allows. Divide the zodiac by three and you get the trine, 120°, joining signs of one element. Divide it by six and you get the sextile, 60°, joining fire to air and earth to water. Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini are both in air signs, so they stand in trine. Neptune in Aries sits between them, 60° from each: sextile to both. Some astrologers call the shape a minor grand trine.
Every leg first came within 5°, with the signs in the same pattern, on July 7, 2025. With the planets’ retrograde loops it holds on and off until May 12, 2030. The three legs perfect in a cluster in July 2026: Uranus sextile Neptune on July 15, 2026, Uranus trine Pluto on July 18, 2026 and Neptune sextile Pluto on July 25, 2026. On July 18, 2026 all three legs were within 0°07′ at once.
Within 0°07′ is close, but this essay doesn’t call it exact: Danu keeps that word for an orb under 0°06′. Uranus trine Pluto perfects again on June 15, 2027, January 13, 2028 and May 10, 2028, and the pattern loosens as Uranus pulls ahead.
In the tradition the trine is ease and the sextile is opportunity. The trine between Pluto and Uranus reads as change meeting little resistance between the two planets of upheaval; Neptune at the apex supplies the image, the ideal or the story that the change organizes around. The geometry is certain. What a generation builds with it is not.

History
The long clock
How often do these three planets make this shape? To find out, the Swiss Ephemeris was stepped day by day from 1400 onward, looking for every stretch in which Pluto, Neptune and Uranus formed two sextiles and a trine, every leg within 5° and the signs in the same pattern.
Rarely, it turns out, and then all at once. Between 1400 and 1943 the shape never appears. It first forms in 1943–1945, with Pluto in Leo, Neptune in Libra, Uranus in Gemini and Pluto at the apex. Then nothing for 79 years, until it returns twice in quick succession: in night signs from September 2–November 19, 2024 (Pluto in Capricorn, Neptune in Pisces, Uranus in Taurus), with Neptune already at the apex, and in day signs from July 7, 2025. The same shape, rehearsed in the old half of the zodiac before it settled in the new one.
It is tempting to reach further back, to the Reformation or the 1730s, for a grander pedigree. The ephemeris doesn’t support it: in neither period did these three planets form this triangle, or come within 5° of it.
What 1943–1945 shares with now is Uranus in Gemini, which it first entered on August 7, 1941. Those years built machines that changed how information moves: Colossus, the code-breaking computer at Bletchley Park, was at work by early 1944. Read astrologically, that is Uranus in Gemini’s signature, and Uranus is back in Gemini.

The honest part
What this is not
This is a description of the sky, not a forecast of events. The math is exact. The interpretation is Danu’s. The tradition is a lens, not a law, and no one should read a doom date or a windfall into July 2026.
The same sky also lands differently for each person. Pluto, Neptune and Uranus are in the same signs for everyone, but those signs fall in different houses of each chart, and the houses are where the sky becomes personal.

Common questions
Questions, answered
What is the great ignition?
This essay's name for the sequence from November 19, 2024 – April 26, 2026 that moved Pluto, Neptune and Uranus out of earth and water signs into air and fire signs, and for the triangle of two sextiles and a trine the three formed in July 2026.
Is the 2026 triangle a grand trine?
No. A grand trine is three trines. This is one trine and two sextiles, a shape some astrologers call a minor grand trine: Pluto in Aquarius trine Uranus in Gemini, with Neptune in Aries sextile both.
Is it rare for all three outer planets to be in day signs?
Not especially. It last happened in 1998–2003 and recurs every few decades. The triangle is the rarer part: before this decade it last formed in day signs in 1943–1945, and not at all between 1400 and 1943.
How does this affect my chart?
Through the houses. Find the houses that hold Aquarius, Aries and Gemini in your chart: those are the parts of life Pluto, Neptune and Uranus are moving through. Plate 5 works them out from your rising sign, and your full chart gives the exact degrees.
