Your birth chart, computed.

Real planetary positions for the minute you were born, drawn on the wheel, with the sky right now laid against it.

Birth time sets your rising sign and houses; birth place sets the time zone and horizon. Without a time, you still get every planet and aspect, and the chart says so instead of guessing.

How to read it

What the result means

Reading your result

The wheel shows the twelve signs around the outside and your planets placed by exact degree. The three placements to read first are your Sun (who you are becoming), your Moon (how you feel), and your rising sign (how you come across), which is the sign on the left-hand edge of the wheel.

Houses are counted the Whole Sign way: the sign your rising sign sits in is your first house, the next sign is your second, and so on. Each house is an area of life, so a planet's house says where in your life it acts. Without a birth time there is no rising sign, so the chart shows planets and aspects only and says so.

The lines across the middle are aspects: the angles between planets. Conjunctions and trines tend to flow, squares and oppositions tend to create tension that becomes growth. The result also shows what the sky is doing to your chart right now, which is the part a static chart can never give you.

Common questions

Birth chart calculator, answered

Is this birth chart calculator free?

Yes. The chart is computed and shown without an account, and your birth details are not stored unless you choose to sign up. Danu's readings of the chart are the paid part; the chart itself is free.

What if I don't know my birth time?

Tick 'time unknown'. You still get every planet by sign and degree and all the aspects. What you lose is the rising sign and the houses, and the chart says so rather than inventing them. A birth certificate usually has the time; many hospitals will send a copy.

Which house system does the calculator use?

Whole Sign houses: the sign holding your rising sign is your first house and each sign after it is the next house. It is the oldest system in Western astrology and the one Danu reads with everywhere, so the chart here matches every reading you would get inside.

How accurate are the planetary positions?

They come from Swiss-ephemeris-grade calculations for the exact minute and place you enter, the same engine the whole product uses. The limiting factor is your inputs: a birth time that is off by an hour can move the rising sign.

What is the difference between a birth chart and a natal chart?

Nothing. Both names mean the map of the sky at the moment and place of your birth. Natal is the older word; birth chart is the plainer one.
